Congrats Road Jouster. Are they requesting you take a "refresher course"? Your 4 year hiatus with 3 years experience prior to that are exactly my situation. Nice to see the experience is counting for something and that they aren't just assuming you know nothing.

Orientation and 2 - 4 weeks with a trainer cityboy21. All paid, albeit a pittance. Getting back in means sacrifices albeit temporary. I the fatally sings to my liking, I'll hand for awhile. Otherwise, a year will be my max. One thing certain I am hanging with it this go round. I'm in for the on haul. I have a goal set and plan on exceeding that.

Wow the typos in my post above... atrocious LOL Although I have a recent DOT card, Schneider want's an exam performed by one of their contracted resources. Drug screen (urine and hair) and DOT was yesterday near my location. What a fiasco, nearly 4 hours. The clinic and SNI pointed the finger at each other. Clinic said they did not receive all the paperwork and SNI said they sent paperwork multiple times. The clinic tried to send me on my way after the drug screening samples were taken with no DOT. I questioned that. The clinic aide said DOT wasn't ordered and showed me the form. More phone calls and mores delays. I actually confirmed with both companies prior to going in due to the drive I'd have to make. Yet, still problems, albeit I finally got through it.

Monday I'm supposed to start 18 day orientation in Dallas. Few days in class with driving (backup) practice a few hours per day then a week on the road with a trainer. 80% of driving done by recruit, me. Then fine evaluation and truck assignment.

I'v been looking for weeks and the common theme was, get recent verifiable experience (6 mos to 1 year and call us back. Now it seems multiple companies are contacting me ready to schedule orientation. Go figure!

Again Congrats. Sounds like you are on your way. Are you going regional or OTR? Curious if you have Hazmat endorsement also. Like I mentioned before, we have similar situations. Last 4 years away from driving but 3 years driving prior to that. I also took my DOT within the last month. I do have tanker and Hazmat but seems tanker is unnecessary at this point since Schneider wouldn't allow me in that division for at least 6 months. Hazmat might help me though. Not sure on that. Still debating on what to do. Since I can't get into the tanker division for at least 6 months, trying to decide if it makes more sense to try and get on local somewhere to get the 6 months under my belt. Was just looking around this morning. Might put out as many apps as possible to see if something will stick and I get a call back. Keep us updated on your status.

Not true, tank can be required for certain Van hauled totes and packages.

Total gallon quanity determines need for tank endorsement on a load. Same appliesto hazmat placarding.

Van or intermodal is a way in til things shake loose. You'd learn policy , procedure and cuture and have a leg up on newbs entering bulk fresh from the street. Something to consider.

OTR for me which is what most companies are requiring anyway. I have tanker and double/triples endorsements no hazmat. Many of SNI divisions require hazmat with 45 days. Passport, hazmat and TWIC will offer more perks either CPM or flat play.

I have an offer from FreyMiller but much lass CPM longer orientation and training. Nicer equipped more driver friendly trucks but the $$ not as good.
