I can drive a 15 passenger van within my limitations of my Car license among other things. I just cannot haul more than 15 souls all together. Even if it is a commercial related such as transporting 14 impatient drivers and one boss to the car dealership in SW little rock so they can quickly transport a whole bunch of really fast fun cars no one wants to risk buying to the auction.
Our School district (Which is about 5 small towns grouped together for a sort of a loose alliance) they penetrate you past the painful episode and light up everything where there is no sun. If there is a smear on your record anywhere going way back, and I mean way back... they will find it.
My hats are off to those who hauled children however I can think of a few who got burned very seriously legally in that industry. We had a farm family who runs school buses under contract to the State or Counties, otherwise own their own buses bought and paid for straight up. One died, after a farm accident and I don't know what happened to the other. However their family was a dynamic one and I would assume enough time has now passed that the new generation is probably getting licensing to get the buses out there and collecting kids early in the morning.
Once in a while when I had the 50 dollars needed for fuel money to round trip either a Archer, 172 or a Cessna 152 we would fly me home. Luggage and all. Takes 14 minutes from take off to landing. Saves a almost two hour migraine inducing bus ride once weekly. Worked in quite a few navigation problems.

I don’t know man driving as school bus in some districts is not fun at all, buddy of mine in Vegas says some screwed up things happen, like kids smoking weed in the back, throwing up, cursing the drivers out, even throwing things at the driver, and with the schools “no expulsion” policy nothing gets done.
I couldn’t handle a kid throwing anything at me, he would get thrown out the bus while it’s on cruise control and I’m in the back tossing his ### out.
Also someone getting angry over a screen name wouldn’t last a week in a bus.TripleSix Thanks this. -

My boss wouldn’t do anything, except to tell me she was an idiot......duh. And to ignore her. So I went to the police knowing she had filmed the incident of her committing a misdemeanor.
She was filming me on her phone the whole time. The police chief I spoke to said “She can’t interfere with the operation of a school bus”. It is a misdemeanor. He said he would send an officer to talk with her. She didn’t come near the door after that. Had another parent stick his foot into the bus door so he could tell me how to treat his kid, that brought a laser light onto the bus and would not give it to me after I caught him flashing it around the bus. I gave the kid a writeup, which gets them called into the principals office and parents get called.
One day, the intermediate school principal flags me down. He comes on the bus and literally yells at all the kids that they need to behave or they can lose the privilege of riding the bus to school....hmmmm....good to know. The 5th grade boys paid no heed.
Eventually I decided to quit before I caused bodily harm to some of the 5th grade boys on the bus.
My mental health was more important than a part time job, so I quit without notice, two weeks before the end of the school year. I have let my bus endorsement lapse.
My boss announced over the two way radio, while kids were still on the bus, that kids should only be written up
in the last two weeks, in situations involving a student being harmed. So the kids heard that they had no consequences for mis-behaving.....duh. The other drivers did not like that either.
My boss reviewed and approved evrery student writeup I did. But if he got any blowback, it was my fault for writing them up, and he would go off about it for an hour until he calmed down. All the drivers knew to stay away from him until he calmed down. So I did not feel bad quitting without notice.
I think a pit bull is the only answer! -
I don't know how it is today. I do know that during my school years, 1964-1975 I saw on average 2 or 3 kids lose their bus privileges that school year. Almost every year someone lost them for the rest of the year. The thing back then was, you lose bus rights YOU still were mandated to attend school if you were under 16. I remember a situation where a girl was forcefully removed from her parents because she lost her bus privileges and stopped going to school. That was then, today I have no idea and even if I could again drive. There is no way in this life or the next you would find me hauling little Johnny Cantdonowrong! Most bus drivers deserve medals.
As far as I am concerned this is felonious assault and this woman should be doing time!

LoneRanger and Hazmat Cat Thank this. -
To avoid confusion why not change your username like @88 Alpha suggested?
If you choose to keep the same username quit complaining about misunderstandings.
Fair enough?MACK E-6, kemosabi49, TripleSix and 1 other person Thank this. -

All public and private school employees who operate school busses transporting students from home to school, school to home, and school-sponsored events are required to have a school bus endorsement on their license. Mechanics operating an empty school are the exception to that need for an S endorsement. Most districts will require you to get an S endorsement as there aren't many school busses that seat less than 16 students or are below 26K.
While it differs with area most drivers will have a split shift with about 5 or so driving hours per day. Note that you can only obtain your S endorsement if you take the road test on a school bus so most districts will train you and help you get that endorsement.
While I am not trying to make a personal attack here it is fairly important that you can be authoritative without having or displaying an angry emotional response. Students may not be asked to leave the bus along the route for discipline and if you cannot maintain your cool there will be some student that will make it their goal to get a rise out of you.
If you have the right personality it is a fun if very low paying job. -
