Hi there, I'm wondering about using a scissorneck lowboy in the flat position to move a 53 foot container. Can you drive a scissorneck while in flat position? or would it pick the front axles up on a tri-axle trailer

Yes, you can drive a scissorneck in the flat position, as you can see in the picture. For height, a standard-height container should be fine, but a high-cube will be very close to 13' 6". Unless you have a trombone, you're going to have about 13-14 feet of rear overhang, so that's a possible problem. As for the loading, it will depend on how the container is loaded and you may have a problem getting proper weights, especially on the steer axle. The trailer axles should be fine unless the container is super heavy at the back end (in which case that end should go to the front).

Most 53' scissorneck trailers that are step not lowboys are built to run in either position.
they move skid shacks on them every day in the flat position.
