Formula isn't that complicated really....
As truck wb increases so much trailer wheelbase by an equal amount. And still can't exceed 23m total length. Seems relatively simple to me.
Do the western provinces still require permits for over 244" + 53'? -
Unknown which Western provinces require a permit at this time. A phone call to Central Permits office in each province would provide that info for anyone thinking of running a longer wb tractot west of the On/Mb. border. -

A friend bought a Pete 3 years ago to pull a set of rtac michigan trains. He went 260" wheelbase. There's a permit to allow genset equipped trucks to be longer than 244". He did not have to actually buy a generator but had to pay for the permit. I think it was 400 dollars. He was under the impression that it was an annual permit. When they inquired about it at the start of the second year he was told he was good to go Who knows how government works lol 400 dollar cash grab imo.
I live not too far from scotlyn. Lots of eye rolls and stories whenever their name comes up. Doesn't matter if its a 20year driver or a 70 year farmer that dealt with them. Always a story. I thought about hauling flowers for them years ago with my own reefer. Changed my mind after reading a 20 page contract that guaranteed that l would owe them a minimum of 2 grand when l decided to leave regardless of whether l did everything by the book. No thanks. I have bought parts from their in house Pete dealership though lol. More "poor farmers" lol ;(Last edited: Apr 22, 2018
