Well, the general discussion was related to NA. What Europe or even China does really has no substantive bearing. I don't see European regulation trucks being sold in the U.S.
The DEF thing does seem rather archaic. Aminex has had a cartridge based system that uses 100% urea in a substrate that is dosed as needed. None of the typical problems of DEF crystallization, injector failures, DEF filter clogging, etc. Why no American OEM has picked up on this is bizarre. More reliable, longer lasting, less user participation, no freezing issues, no spillage, 10 year shelf life of a individual cartridge, easily replaced Urea cartridges in minutes, cartridges reusable, etc. Cartridge is mounted and hooked up similar to a propane tank on a forklift. Would be the most viable solution to getting to a SCR only type of system that would meet U.S. EPA standards.

Interesting, that Navistar bought a major share into this company back when they were doing EGR only on the Maxxforce. Not sure if they sold their share, but I would have expected Navistar to move in this direction when going to SCR.
