Was driving, (13spd) unfortunately had to teach myself. I was going from high 7th to go into 8th. Anyways I hit the button and I guess I had a brain fart and just never shifted. I was going about 50-55. Pretty much an empty trailer (1 pallet)
It is a Volvo with ishift.

What kind of damage can be done by this?

Is it a big deal or does this happen sometimes?

Nothing is leaking. Nothing looks twisted or bent.

This is kinda vague. So im going to ask for clarification in hopes of gettong your answer

Did you stay in the throttle so it didn't start to split? Did it split and just hang grinding? Did it rev to the moon and actually catch the lower gear?

    Any noises?

I thought the ishift was volvos auto trans?

You may be right on the auto trans. Not familiar with Volvo's at all.

Anyways it pretty much just started grinding to high heaven. Pulled over checked for leaks etc. Seems to be driving alright. Really don't want to take it to maintanance as they usually out you in an extremely beat rig.

    Hope this helps.

    you are shifting an Ishift?

It is an autoshift trans, you don't shift it.

No damage if it is an ishift. Even in manual mode it will only shift when it feels it is ok to shift.

Question though to verify as you actually mentioned two diffrent transmissions. Is it a manual 13 speed, or an automatic 12 speed? Ishift does not come in a 13 speed..

If you hit the red button on the side and then drove it without completing the shift then you could easily have toasted the splitter shift fork/collar. There is no neutral interlock on the splitter like there is with the range. That's why you never preselect a split as the shift fork is trying to force a split shift the second you touch the button.

Funny, the Eaton Fuller manual says to NEVER move the splitter or range selector while the gear selector is in neutral and the vehicle is moving.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Happens to anyone. Once it starts grinding, push clutch and go to neutral and then find your gear again

Well you do technically preselect a split but literally a second before you intend to make the shift. Preselecting a split while you still have to gain RPM is just causing excess wear on the shift fork and sliding clutch.
