"Save" money on driver wages and spend it in higher insurance premiums. Whatever, I guess the people running the big companies have it all figured out.

You pretty much nailed it, you can see it in almost anything the Mega's do.IE Slip Seat = Higher Tractor Utilization on the front end. 4X the service, cleaning costs like crazy and makes drivers quit in droves on the back end. But hey! we made out Utilization and Quarterly Bonus! so who ####in cares right?

Just wanted to add, a good buddy of mine works for Westcan out in Vancouver (Langley terminal I think). He said before October it was all Canadians, Russians and Polish guys working there. Their terminal had a 0 incident safety record. Apparently tho, someone went crying to the government about discrimination. They now have to meet a minimum diversity requirement by Jan 1st, and so far, all applicants have failed their road tests.....twice......but they will be forced to hire X amount regardless come Jan 1st. Anyway, hes updated his will and doubled his life insurance.

    Yea
Slip seating for highway drivers I think is stupid. For daycab guys who don't have all their stuff loaded in there it works a lot better. If it is a 24h operation. And really, for the highway guys, how much more service do they get out of the unit? Considering many highway guys are only home for a relatively short time then back on the road. But then again I am just one stupid trucker.

    #### tell me about it! so glad i'm mostly in the US these days. Seaboard never stops hiring in Calgary, they literally road test 10 hours a day, 6 days a week (my terminal is near theirs). Just unreal how some of these guys attempt to drive.

What happens if the company refuses to hire who the government says? That is bullsh_t. Hire whoever you want. Government stay out of the way we will pay you what we are legally obligated to and not a penny more but who is running this business??

Hey I'm just a stupid truck driver also! Lets be friends! lol.

Maybe 200 miles, if their lucky. My last company kept letting smelly shunts in greasy coveralls, use my assigned highway tractor to run reefers for washout. Always got my truck back completely trashed, banged up, empty and something was always broken. Slip seating Day cabs in a small company, if guys can be respectful is fine. But in the Mega's, the day cab guys are always sick, their trucks are run down and filthy, and no-one gives a ####. Most end up going O/O, so they don't have to exist in filth, or change trucks up too 3 times per shift. All I know is, where I'm at now they don't slip seat anything, and everyone is happy!!!! (go figure).

Not totally sure, but i'm sure it involves a daily fine, until the requirements are met.

I would sell the company or just fold it up before I let the government decide who I will or won't hire.
