I'm interested in driving truck. I love driving in general, being out on the road, traveling, etc. Only thing is, I like my summers, usually I take a league of absence from my current job during the summer. I'm very big into summer sports like surfing, skim boarding, wake boarding, etc.
The only thing that is stopping me from going to get my CDL is the possibility of having to work during the summer and missing out on what I would enjoy probably more then driving a truck.
I was wondering if some companies would allow off time during the summers? Basically seasonal work maybe from September to May.
I know at one point in my life I'll probably have to start working summers, but I'm not yet ready to give that up. I'm 21 by the way, live in Philadelphia.

My question is how the heck would you pay bills etc without working for 3-4 month???

Forget about trucking, you need to commit, all year. What's a "league of absense" ?????
otherhalftw Thanks this. -
Might be the building next door to the "League of Justice"!
Check with Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman.....they could tell you!
*BTW...you trying to cut into my Spelling Guru gig or what?*

Drive a snow plow!

You can't play forever. One day you have to be responsible. The earlier you start, the better off you will be. You can surf on your offtime. -
I don't know Condo....snow plow when he talks about surfing, wake boarding....not much snow on the beaches of Miami or the likes! but that would definitely be a seasonal temporary gig!
-
I agree, drive a plow truck. Or find a farmer who needs a driver during harvest.

Deliver oil in the Northeast during the winter.
This guy sounds like me: I drive when I "feel" like it, haha. I wake up, oh it's raining today, I'll drive tomorrow instead!Nycmex77 Thanks this. -
He's from Phillie otherhalfw.
You can do like many, work 7-8 months and quit. Then find another gig. You can do that 3-4 times before they stop hiring you.

Teachers have much of the summer off.
Maybe teach?
