I’m curious to the people hauling rock, asphalt construction type stuff where the winters shut ya down how are you able to make it only working 6 months a year? I ran my numbers trying to figure it and my figures of $100/hr 6mpg 300 miles a day 45000 truck and all other expenses you would make around $60k after taxes. Now that ant bad for only 6 months of work. But I see most of ya all using trucks and trailers way way more expensive than 45000. How do ya do it?

Around here. Work just slows down.
Unless the economy crashes like it did 12 years ago. They still work. Albeit on a reduced hours. 30 instead of 60. -
Haul heating oil or propane in the winter.... but those jobs are hard to get.
Some haul salt , doesn’t pay much.
Others grab a flat or van and hit the road.Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
Gotcha I figured they must be hauling something else. I live in Minnesota so construction still going during harvest but when the snow comes construction is done some haul snow but not sure that would work in frameless end dump mostly just straight dump trucks running snow. Thank you all for the info!
