I had a friend who had tickets in his POV, the 4th was failing to yield the right of way in a cross walk, of all the stupid poop, but he couldn't find a driving job. So a ticket in a car or truck is never a good thing. But keep trying, you never know.

With the O/P getting the seat belt infractions prior to having a CDL .When he gets a cdl would they count against a carrier's CSA profile??

The fact that you have three may be a problem. Most minor things like that which happen before someone gets a CDL can be overlooked by companies but repeat things may cause you problems. As others stayed three seatbelt tickets sends the message that you don't take safety seriously, you don't follow rules, and you don't learn from your mistakes. If you had one seatbelt ticket it would be no big deal but I am afraid three will hurt you.

Look at it this way. They like to talk about this big driver shortage but from what I can tell there isn't one. There always seems to be plenty of applicants for driving jobs. Why would an employer take a chance on someone with three seatbelt tickets when they have a half dozen other applicants with clean records?

I may be wrong but I don't think your going to have to serious a problem with this. However if you do get a job start buckling up. I have seen Texas police officers use binoculars looking for seatbelt violations.

Also I know seatbelt violation show on your criminal record in SC at least because it is not a moving violation.

No, there would be no CSA points. However, it shows a pattern of not following even the most basic safety procedure one can perform despite being caught and penalized REPEATEDLY for that same infraction. Would you hire somebody to drive with 3 tickets on their MVR for speeding 11-14? Probably not, because their record shows they like to drive 11-14 over the speed limit and when (not if) they are caught doing the same in your truck, THEN you will get the CSA points. Same with the seat belt. He doesn't wear it. It is obvious he doesn't wear it by the repeated violations on his record. WHEN (not if) he is caught in your truck, you'll get the CSA points. It is an unnecessary risk to take as an employer, because it is such an easily preventable violation (simply "click-it") and there are hundreds of OTHER applicants without such violations.

Big Don, LoneCowboy and taxihacker66 Thank this.

That very thing just happened to a driver from my terminal, in Texas. $750 ticket and serious CSA points. Fighting it in court won't work. They got him on High Def video.
