I plead ignorance here, I've never been in a truck cab. I do quite a bit of out of State traveling in my car. That said, after about 3 hours of Interstate driving, I have no choice but to pull off the highway at a stop of some sort, get out of that sitting position to stretch the legs that are fairly stiff.

How do y'all drive for such long distances, and keep on going?

some loads have requirements that must be met, but in general for me it depends
on how I feel, each load and day is a little different, no set schedule here.

guess you'll just have to try it and see for yourself

if you can go 3 hours in a passenger vehicle you should be able to do 4-5 in a truck but from the sound of it I would not get real eager to do O.T.R. then again local & short-haul would get you out of the cab almost always within under an hour or two plus get some sort of motion ~ if you are good with people that would be the way to go

It's more comfortable driving a truck and not as cramped as a car. I usually pull in a rest area for a quick pit stop every 3-4 hours plus I like to do a walk around and check everything out, especially tires.

Truck seating is entirely different than automobile seating. Better design and engineering for long-term comfort to better adjust to a wide range of body types/heights, air ride, better placement, higher, etc. That said, some truck seats are better than others.

I set my air seat to a height that is about equal to a kitchen chair, so no stress on the legs (works for me). Also, most truck seats have what is nicknamed a "railroad setting". It allows the seat to rock forward and back about 2"... this takes away a lot of the bumps you normally get from the road (and saves my lower back...) :biggrin_25525:

Just like anything else you build a tolerance over time. On average I tried to stop every 3 hours. If I'm pushing delivery I might go 5-6 hour legs. When I first started, 600-700 miles seemed like eternity. Now it seems like a short trip.

I can drive further in my car. Let the air out of your seat and see how smooth it is.

There has to be some concept behind a luxury car seat design? Not all have Honda Civic seats with a stove pipe coming out the back! :biggrin_25523:

car seats are designed for 2 things 1 to protect you as good as possible in a wreck and 2 to feel good when you sit down, not feel good 11 hours later. And i agree i can drive 18+hrs straight in a car, but thats not because of the seat by the time i get out my back hurts, its just less tireing to drive a little car
