You're technically supposed to have the semi frame recertified as well but people do it all the time anyway.
Guys will shorten frames and remove the sleeper to put a dump body on. Others will stretch them and then it's also common to do frame cuts for swapping out axles.
Then on top of all that you can also build a homebuilt trailer and use it with no certification other than the plate you put on the side of it with vin and axle ratings.
