You can't driver INTERstate until you turn 21, but you can drive INTRAstate. Although its very hard for a driver your age to get hire because of your age and lack of experiance......trust me I got my Class A CDL when I turned 18...
Find a few local companies that are willing to hire you BEFORE you spend your money on school. Because if you don't get a job, you'll have to go to school all over again when you turn 21 so you can go OTR. I paid for school in cash out of my own pocket TWICE! Don't let that happen to you

I understand the laws regarding CDL, I'm actually studying the Cali's CDL Handbook;
Regarding The Local's : I've done that and a lot of companies want you to be over 21 for insurance purposes; I've yet to find a company that will hire me right now.
Thats why i'm looking for something that will kind of get my foot in the door ya?;
(From Swifts website you have to be 21 - Not saying your wrong but i'm saying what it says on the web)
I do need job anywhere! I'd care less where it is, as long as it something! lol
I'm excited and waiting for 13 more months lol

JakeRanger_309 and American-Trucker Thank this. -
Jake: Trucking sounds "fun" at first, but once you get your feet wet, you will know it you are cut out for it, in the long run.
The solitude and the feel of the road, all by my own lonesome, have made all the sacrifices worth it to me. I have worked with some great people and I wouldn't ever let that go for a minute.
I was lucky and didn't have to go through all the BS lots of new drivers do to get on board in this biz, or I think maybe I would have passed this profession up.
It ain't for everyone, to be sure. It's hard work, to be plain and simple. -
A guy from my truck school went to swift and they told him 23 or older but if you've been in the service then 21 or older but you never know.
Jake91 Thanks this. -
