    LOL

Thats a loaded question with a jaded history when it comes to who will admit they are associated with me.

Lets just say I have closet friends here who mostly tolorate me until the pack mentality comes into play.

I've done all I can do to make amends and will continue to try and keep the peace. Thats why you dont really see me arguing with anyone.

    Son!!

What rock have you been under?? LOL

My hood has been black since Sept or Oct of 2014. Originally green.. (obviously). I had an accident in July of 2014.. the hood was white for a few months. After getting pulled for DOT stops 4 times in 2 months.. I was doing the prep work to get it repainted.. then a great rate fell in my lap so I ended up just using rattle cans to make it satin black so I could leave out. Been that way ever since.

Hood got crunched again by a mega driver in April 2015. Another hood.. 6 more cans of Krylon satin black.

Everyone I meet out on the road recognizes me by the black hood. There is no mistaking the Hurst hoopty.

Either way he still has enough WLL. 12k of load and 9400 wll on the chains.

Looks good to me! I've strapped them right across the floors and had no issues although some brands have a curb that runs around the whole base which in that case it wouldn't work.

People are stupid and cant comprehend that they have such a high working load.

I didn't say anything about the WLL of anything. My point is that instead of the 7200 lbs of freight he thought he had he actually has 24,000 lbs, maybe more. Also, the chains start and end on the same side of the trailer. As I understand it the WLL is cut in half. You cant hook a 9,400 wll chain to a 5,000 rated pocket and expect to get credit for the 9,400.

I never said you did. My point is some people have issues with straps under the false impression that fabric can't hold anything heavy. Talking shippers and not drivers obviously.

I wasn't referring to your post. My comment was to Cnspr.

With 2 chains you get the 9400 pounds (there is a chain on the other side of the trailer.) and the chain does not have to hook to both/opposite sides of the trailer, but both ends have to anchor to the trailer. Even if it is the same side of the trailer.

Indirect connections get the full WLL and direct connections get cut in half.

I need to pick your brain for a minute.

Ok.. yes the chains start and end on the same side. How ever.. its the binders that are actually holding the load to the trailer. Chain pockets are rated 5400# btw.

When I do small loaders and backhoes.. skid steers as well.. to create 4 points of contact.. no chains are ever crossing the trailer for securement. Is the wll cut in half when doing 4 points as well ??

Because the way I set up this load.. I had 8 lifts with 8 binders doing 4 independant points of contact the way the chains were set up. If one section failed.. only 2 lifts could come loose.

Not arguing my method as correct or defending anything I did here. Only trying to get your opinion and learn something.

My question to Jumbo applies to you as well.

Just looking for some clearity on how to secure similar loads in the future and not get hassled by DOT.
