The chain is rated at 6600 pounds, the binders are more than likely 5400 pounds unless you got the larger binders and your stake pocket is 5400 pounds. So if you are using the stake pockets as an anchor point you could use 1/2" chain and still only get credit for 5400 pounds because of the stake pockets.

dngrous_dime, peterbilt_2005 and kylefitzy Thank this. -
Ok, so then my point is that his chains didn't go through, over or around the object. That is why I believe it is still direct securement.
-
But it has gotten us bouncing ideas off of each otherdaf105paccar, peterbilt_2005 and johndeere4020 Thank this.
-
But it did go through, as in the securement eyes.Oxbow, kylefitzy, Hammer166 and 1 other person Thank this.

That's what they're calling Rockside now? Global headquarters, I love it!!! Anyway this has always been a gray area but I've been doing it that way for years without a problem. But then again my D rings don't have a WLL printed anywhere so I don't have to worry about it.Oxbow Thanks this.

I know what you are saying, but that isnt "my" definition of through. I just never haul them this way. I always have them side by side lengthways on the trailer. 2 or 3 wide depending on the model. Chain on each end and down the road you go.
-
Yeah they did, they went from the trailer and through the securement eyes and back to the trailer. That makes them an indirect tiedown good for the whole WLL.
-
Ha Ha Ha... but all we need to be worried about is the "DOT" definition of through.... LOL
