    Stay Aware of your surrounding.

At Rest Areas go with her wait by the entrance for he.

Get a pair of the COBRA FM handheld radioskeep one with you when out of the truck, always in communication with each other.

In this day and age dont carry or flash cash, use your debit cards instead.

Biggest deal is stay aware of who and whats aroud you at all times.

I've never had a problem on the road in my 5 yrs of driving.

my girlfriend is also an OTR driver. She runs solo and she is 5'4" and 115 lbs. she has never had an issue either in her 7 yrs of driving. She frequently parks at truckstops and rest areas.

just use common sense and be aware of your surrounding, just as you would anywhere, and all will be well.

You know, when they were teaching us pre-trips in CDL school, and inspecting exhaust systems for leaks, I was thinking "Why in the world isn't FMCSA requiring CO detectors in truck cabs, especially when they can have sleeping quarters and commonly get idled for long periods of time?" It seems so obvious . . .

Don't your cell phones provide the same thing?
With Bluetooth it is even hands free.

Your new, so you don't get it yet, Driver are dispensable to most companies, Companies not drivers matter to the politicians, contributions.

Dead truckdrivers do not make the news.

use cash and not your debit card.

ID theft is from using credit/debit cards.

I've gone back using cash for most small purchases.

other than that I've only been accosted once while out on the road.

my Stanley thermos made a handy defense tool. lol

Do you put the CO detector low in the cab or up high someplace?
Seems to me I remember that CO sinks? Could be wrong, though.
