Not for when you run Canada. They always ask about weapons or pocket knives.

I read how pepper spray can cause allergic reactions in some. But just out of shear morbid curiosity what about a stun gun or taser? There are some that are readily available to the general public and have thought about getting one for myself.

    Still a weapon.

Besides, in 10 years I have not needed one. So, why bother now.

Trailer security: 9/16" x 1 1/2" bolt and 2 nuts. Put bolt down through hasp. Run nut 1 all the way up and TIGHT against the hasp then run nut 2 up and jam it against nut 1. Thieves carry bolt cutters NOT 9/19" combo wrenches BUT you will need to carry 2 of them!

Cab security: 12' Motorcycle tie down strap run through arm rests on both doors and pulled tight. If your seats turn turn them so backs are towards doors and seat belts also through the arm rests. Also go to a window tinting place and either put on the legal darkest film or clear film. The film will keep the window from shattering and will take several hits to get it out of the way but by then you should be up and armed with your tire billy or weapon of choice, as they still have to come through the window.

A simple weapon for inside the truck that hurts like hello and leaves a distinct mark on a theifs face: Take 4" of broom handle and either drill a small hole length wise through the handle. Then take 12-16" of coat hanger and run it through the hole. One end of the coat hanger you want to bend 1/4 inch of it back up on itself and push it as far into the hole in the handle. You can also run glue in the hole for added tightness. Test the whip and see if you need to shorten it by an inch or so. I would take a file and smooth the end so you don't cut your self on the sharp end from the wire cutters. I took steel wool and sanded the coating off of the coat hanger then used WD 40 on it to keep it from rusting.

Another defensive weapon is to get either motorcycle chain or chainsaw blade (you'll have to figure out how to make the chainsaw blade as it can be considered a deadly weapon) about 20" long and your broom handle. Cut a groove down the side of the handle a little bigger than the chain. Lay the chain down the groove and use duct tape so you can test it inside the truck. It needs to be able to swing freely without hitting the roof. When you have it at the right length JB Weld or Gorilla Glue it in place then get a roll of heavy nylon string and neatly wrap it around and around the handle or get leather wrap and use it.

The chain weapon can be used either as a chain or with a simple twist of the hand will turn it into a solid pipe like weapon or asp that will leave really bad marks on the face that the police can find! The chain saw weapon could be considered as a dangerous weapon so I'd highly advise not making it!

    Some tips:
NEVER leave your pants in the seats! I go to WalMart or a home improvement place and get a set of clothes hangers that mount to the wall. PLEASE do NOT steal them from the showers at a truck stop like some morons do! I place them high enough on the side of the closet or top cabinet where I can reach them easily. Not only will your shirt and pants be hanging out of sight they won't get wrinkled either! I also leave them for the next driver. If you can't afford $2 then you're in the wrong business!

Using pepper spray in the truck is not a good idea unless you LIKE the smell and the effects! WD40, Brake Cleaner, Wasp Spray are better as they don't smell to badly and can blind someone just like Pepper Spray.

Tire Billys, short crowbars, 16-20 oz ball peen hammers are also good for in the truck weapons.

Anti theft devices can be Air brake button covers, steering shaft locks, foot brake anti theft devices a chain around the dolly handle and a GOOD king pin lock lock fairly well slow someone down except for a determined theft.

Of course a dog that will eat the face off of someone or a cougar (yep I knew the guy that owned the FORD cougar! He NEVER had a problem except from DNR cops!) Or Police or DOT for that matter! ROFL!

Anything you can put in your hands and will hurt can be a good weapon! Even your belt.

PLEASE DO NOT MENTION GUNS! THERE ARE SEVERAL THREADS ABOUT GUNS! GO THERE!

I would mention a gun, as it is still the most effective way to ward someone off, and there's always only one side to that story. There is plenty of information on guns already on this forum. You can buy small alluminum bats at wal-mart They're maybe two feet long if that, made for little kids. They make excellent self defense weapons.

im not OTR and this is probably already posted but one i always thought was a good idea and have done in my pickup truck is running a heavy duty ratchet strap from 1 door to the other, so neither can be opened...they will have to smash the glass and that will wake you up (unless u sleep as heavy as me)
