Hell, the boss was tellin me about a guy that had a live rattlesnake for a pet. That thing would curl around the base of the seat and wait for someone to open the door.

too bad rattle snakes are illegal to own in most states and you would have to keep the truck 70-80 all the time to keep it alive and if it was free roaming it would find a warm place to sleep such as his bed

yea still bucket = plastic = no heat snakes need heat to live they are cold blooded plus no matter how long you have a snake it is still a wild animal it would have bit his #$$ when he got too close don't believe every thing your boss says dot would have not allowed a free roaming poisonous snake in someones truck or in a bucket with a lid on it would have suffocated there's just too many problems with that story

This was back in the 70's, DOT was a joke. Well, a different kind of joke than it is now.

I did the San Diego (started at the Harley Dealer) to Jacksonville Fl (Harley Dealer) and back Iron Butt Contest. Possibly the most difficult thing I have ever completed. I rode my 1964 Harley Panhead, no incidents.

As a woman safety and feeling secure are imporant. You have to use common sense and be aware of your surroundings at all times. I am not big woman and I don't believe I could kill someone, I am sure I could put up a fight, make a lot of noise and run fast, but I am not the killing type.
Rght now, I am running flatbed with a male, and I do feel more secure than when I was running reefer and solo.

One thing noticed out here is a lot of drivers get themselves into sticky situations. A few days ago, we were at a flying J. Well, a couple drivers decided to hang out and have a few beers together, well, they were not eharmony compatible because they started arguing about something and then the fists were flying... One guy was fairly new and just tired of the boredom and lonliness of the road... which he why he thought drinking with a couple other truckers would be fun.
There are a lot of good people out here, but there are also some not so good ones you need to stay away from. There are also some that are pretty stressed and close to melt down... About a month ago was at a TA, there was a guy there with all his stuff, just got fired and dropped off by his trainer at the TA, he was broke and starting crap with alot of drivers, especially one who drove for CREngland, since that is who just fired him.

Many wannabies get into trucking to travel and see the country... Really it is more like watching Jerry Springer or reality shows....

He should have been glad to have been fired from CRE. I'd have been downright honored.
