Well today was the final day of orientation and final day of securement and tarping training. Really enjoying the securement, it's going to be a lot of work and course there's a lot of potential for injury but I really like it.
The way System teaches it takes a lot of the confusion out of it really simplifies it.
We also had Qualcomm training today and after driving for 9 months with Swift over the road, with the way they have their Qualcomm set up this is way easier it looks like.
I mean there's only 12 macros to deal with. At Swift We had something like 60 macros it was just a f****** joke.
One huge difference that's going to prove to be interesting is that System Transport does not have the GPS enabled on the Qualcomm.
But I really prefer the System Transport method of dealing with loaded and empty calls, it's way better than having separate macros for everything and it's a sweet deal.
Anyway bottom line is actually have a job now, got hired and I'll be getting my tractor tomorrow, I think tomorrow morning early but I'm not sure. I don't know if I'm going to be dispatched tomorrow or not. I hope I get a few hours to get my stuff moved in and to get familiar with the truck, inspect it, all that good stuff.
I definitely think I'm in the right place.
I think System Transport is looking like a really good company to be with; the people are so far everybody's just wonderful, they're very welcoming to new drivers and it appears that they treat drivers very well. It definitely appears to be a driver's company. I was a little bit nervous for a while there because I had read some really really really bad reviews online from chronic malcontents and complainers but I'm not seeing evidence of any of that so far. I feel like I'm being treated very well and with respect.
Seeking info on System Transport (flat bed)

Well I'm four days into my first load. It was a t call at the yard and Cheney. It was preloaded I just picked up the trailer and went down the road.
It hasn't been a perfect experience so far but it's been a good experience. I will say that my driver manager take the Fantastic first load for a driver that's new to the company.
My first delivery this is a three stop load. My first drop is tomorrow at noon in Pennsylvania. Near York.
I got weather near Bozeman on the way over and we had black ice and snow pack/icy for 33 miles. I lost at least an hour and a half two hours on that. And as it turns out I didn't have that extra. I've been driving a lot of miles I've been driving over 10 hours a day which based on my past experience pulling dry Vans for a mega this is very unusual.
But pretty sure that that's the difference between dry van mega and medium flatbed fleet. I think this is the way it's going to be I'm going to work really hard for 3 weeks and then go home and sleep for 3 days. I'm okay with that.
There's been a couple of problems; my fuel card wasn't working correctly, so over the weekend I had to call in for an Express code every time I fueled. That turned a 20-minute fueling into a one hour ordeal every time.
But I'll tell you one thing about System that I'm just thrilled about is Monday morning they were all over it and it was fixed in no time flat as soon as there's people in there Monday morning they fixed it.
Really good crew as far as I'm concerned at the terminal in Cheney. I mean nobody's perfect and everybody's people and honestly they're all pretty darn busy cuz they run it lean, there's not a lot of extra fat in that crew but if you say you got a problem they're on it.
I realize I'm in the honeymoon phase with this company right now but but I'm liking what I see so far. I haven't seen any real red flags. I mean no company is perfect because the company has people and people are far from perfect. I went through that phase where I expected everything to be perfect I think I'm starting to finally realize what Trucking is all about. I'm learning to do route finding like nobody's route planning like nobody's business because I don't have a GPS in my Qualcomm now. It's up to me they give me a route you know it's text, not a blue line on the GPS.
And now I'm finally starting to understand what the experienced drivers mean when they say steering wheel holder.
I'm a long ways off but I think I might eventually be a trucker.
And a flatbedder.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
Well it was a really long week but I got all three stops delivered on time.
I can honestly say flat bedding is one hell of a lot of work. And trust me that's not a complaint.
I can also honestly say that so far I'm very impressed with System Transport. From what I had heard just talking to other truckers on the road while I was pulling dry vans, System Transport has a pretty good reputation. I definitely believe that it's earned.
There's been some problems but those problems were resolved quickly and efficiently. I definitely have absolutely nothing to recommend against this company. Good people, good equipment ,safety oriented.
If you want to work hardI think it's probably pretty good place to be. I mean I've been pushing really hard but that's what I told my driver manager I wanted: to stay busy while I'm on the road so they're doing it for me and I appreciate it.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
Do they do cash advances and why do they let you take out in a pay period? My husband has a spending problem and has applied with system. Thank you
