I personally like the non cancelling switches. When making turn, particularly in urban areas feasible. Just because the tractor has completed the turn, the trailer has not. Or you are in a situation where you need it to stay on while you are maneuvering. People in 4 wheelers can be pretty ignorant around trucks,.. I'd rather not give them any more excuses.

Plus, I cant say I have never forgot to turn them off. But it lets me know who out there is paying attention, and who to watch out for because maybe he's a little tired or,.. well I just need to watch out.

You and I think alike, Hurst. I had reasoned that it was intended for just this reason, that just because the tractor had completed the turn the trailer hasn't. But I guess my reasoning was wrong since some tractors come equipped with cancelling switches. Oh well, I'm not so smart after all. But who cares, I got good miles this week!

Years ago our driver training consisted of 2 things. Open the right door first and don't forget to turn off your turn signal.:biggrin_2559:

I dont know if you remember or not,.. but the old Internationals and Macks buzzed and had a big red bulb on the dash when the signal was on.

Hi Hurst, I remember a Transtar cab-over I drove that had the green lights on the dash, otherwise 90% of the trucks I drove had the ol' Signal-Stat 900.

I have self cancelling signals and hate them,I would rather decide when I want them off. I always check to make sure that I don't have that 40 mile right signal thing going on.

    Jug-handle turns is why not.

Swing out wide, signal goes "Welp, we're done here."
I got really good at letting my fingers catch the signal lever while turning the wheel to re-activate it with my Volvo...

Our 99 macks have the most annoying turn signal beep that anyone ever dreamt of inventing. Makes it pure hell when you have to use your flashers for very long.

Think about it guys the reason most trucks don't have self canceling signals is because in a tight turn while trailer is still making corner your counter steering cuts em off. So now your trailer is in roadway with no turn signals on, and if you got rear ended somebody's lawyer will be screaming bloody murder. A company/owner has to be willing to take that chance.
