My self certification last day was last Monday. Is there a grace period or will I lose my license? Going tomorrow to do the physical.

Just get it and certify it, check it's status, while you are at it. Usually they are fairly slow to suspend, and even if they have it is no big deal to certify it and get it back, even after a year or so.

Go to the DMV soonest and fill out the Tier two or whatever it is.

If you have a Valid DOT medical, you are Tier One. If you do not have a DOT medical or lapsed it, you need to go to DMV in the morning prior to doctor and swear out a Tier Two as a defense against being downgraded once the State sees it. When you have your DOT card, go back and swear out a Tier One and go to work.

    From Ma rmv

“Failure to complete your initial self-certification, or to re-certify by your self-certification expiration date thereafter, will result in the downgrade of your CDL to a Class D license.”

If it were me, I’d be calling the rmv first thing in the morning.. I wouldn’t just submit it and cross my fingers.

I wouldn’t sweat it too much. I was a week late with mine. Ran and got the physical and drove straight to the DMV. No issues. I won’t do it again though. I was worried my license was suspended

Like I said, no big deal, last year I screwed up and let my license expire, first time since 76 , I did not have a valid license. It was almost 2 months before I realized it and went to the dmv.
They told me no problem if it was less than a year and I just had to take the eye test and pony up the bucks.

My daughter has not driven for years, but keeps her cdl just in case, she does not get her physical for a year or maybe two , just to keep from giving them what they get for them here, and has had no trouble getting her license recertified.

I have a DOT physical scheduled for this morning. I thought it expired the 11th. We are in the middle of moving. Will contact the registry this morning.

I know in Pa they send you out notices 2-3 months ahead of time and a month before. I forgot mine 2 years ago and they downgraded to a regular license. I had to pay a few dollars to get it upgraded again. The main thing is you don't want to get pulled over. All the best to you.

It depends on the state. Some will downgrade and make you redo everything. Most however will downgrade and all you have to do is recertify to upgrade. Best to check with your states DMV to be sure.

when I decide to give up my cdl, I didn't give it up yet and the state sent me two letters reminding me to self-certify as soon as I can after it lapsed before I gave up the cdl.
