A lot of this violence and danger that people in here relate to trucking, are just things that happen everywhere in our world now. T/Ss can be dangerous at night, yes, but just use your head and you should be fine. The reason a T/S is dangerous at night is because it will be dark, it's easy to get out of eyesight and you usually have things to steal with you or on your truck. Those are 2 issues you can remove or improve on with a little forethought and situational awareness.

As far as the gun talk, you're not really helping the OP. A woman asking for defense advice on a forum? You're not going to teach her to use a gun, lol. To be able to actually defend yourself, with a firearm (ignoring the danger of someone taking it and having one to use on you instead), to protect yourself would take a lot of training.

What the OP wants is a can of mace and/or a rape whistle.

In all honesty I have never had a problem when I was over the road but being 6'6 290lbs help but the fact is there is some places where you want to watch your back some truck stops in jersey come to mind but the truth is in this industry you need to be prepared for anything ya know if its weather, breakdowns, illness or even potential intruders just use common sense
