I have treated Swift Trucks as being self driving for years.

They claim there will always be a CDL driver in the truck. Once the truck arrives, some one has to open the doors and dock it. Even a drop and hook will need a driver. They can't have robot trucks driving around a warehouse with people around. Your pay may be less since you are babysitting. For the first few years you will probably have to sit in the driver's seat. Think of pilots. They preflight the plane, enter in coordinates, do the checklist and take off. Once in the air they engage autopilot and sit back and chill. They take over to land. Essentially the same thing .

Yeah yeah yeah we know all that BS. There was an Uber “driver” “driving” the car that ran over the cyclist. Did you see the video from the driver facing camera? She was looking at her lap so lots of good a driver does

They aren't going to pay you to be in the sleeper. You will have to work like you do now, to a point.

Did I say the UBER driver was in the back seat? No I did not. She was in the driver seat, with a driver facing camera recording her playing with her phone. What makes you think a CMV "driver" would be any different? The driver looks up just in time to see the crash after the vehicle applies its' brakes. The driver is only there to be the fall guy and take the rap for the truck manufacturer, the trucking company and the software manufacturer. The driver is a sitting duck in that seat and it will never be me

I was stating that you aren't going to be a passenger like that girl. You will be expected to work. Now out on the interstate with little traffic you may not be 100% alert , but in town or in traffic you will have to be primed and ready. Some may actually have restrictions where you are required to take over when you get near city limits. It's not going to happen overnight, but it's coming.
