One would think Musks StarLink would be used for Teslas self driving cars and isn’t just for internet for people.
imagine thousands of cars relaying real world conditions live and talking to each other. You now have an autonomous vehicle with thousands of sensors.
Other companies can realize that info by paying a monthly fee.

When a self driving truck can do this I'll start to take the threat seriously.

That was an interesting case: The woman wasn't on her bike. She was pushing it across the road. It seems the A.I. computer system was designed/trained to detect and stop if it sensed/saw a person walking/crossing the road. Or a person on a bike. But it didn't seem to know what to do with a person pushing the bike across the road, next to them. As such, the A.I. computer system failed to brake. The car did have a human back-up driver. They were busy looking at their smartphone, because they assumed the car was driving itself. Despite their only job to be there as a back-up, they failed miserably at it.Deere hunter, hope not dumb twucker, broke down plumber and 1 other person Thank this.

What's the prize for someone correctly guessing the date of the first robot truck in the wild or the name of the maker and the date it happens? I seriously don't understand what guessing the correct answer is supposed to accomplish. BTW, nobody will know which guess was right until that date arrives, so having advance notice accomplishes what?
It's like an argument at a kid's sleepover arguing which kid will get married or pregnant first. Having the correct answer provides nothing useful.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this. -

This is why driverless trucks won’t happen. 100m verdict when the commercial driver was not at fault.
When a person distracted by their cell phone slams into one of these driverless trucks. The Lawyers will probably try to get half a billion. Don’t think these companies can absorb this.
A controlled environment is where AI will work. Why you see the automated docks and warehouses. That’s a controlled environment. Trucking isn’t a controlled environment why it will never work. Too many lawyers trying to make money. It’ll be another 20+ years until it may happen. -
Like I’ve said many times, “just because we can do something, doesn’t mean we should” this rush to automating of everything is insanity in my opinion. Displace 75% of the workforce overnight worldwide and then what? Everyone starves? All the cheap goods these things can produce, nobody can buy? What’s the point. Never before in history have we faced this kind of unknown. I understand technology always advances, but it’s never been in a place where it could disperse more than about 5% of the workforce at a time. And the world adjusts. We are looking at up to 75% in two decades. Scary in my opinion. AND NOBODY, even talks about it, looks into where it might lead. We just follow along.

The concentration of engineers and venture capitalists around SF creates a critical mass of money and talent and some talented people think EVERYTHING is possible with enough money and engineering. They've seen a weird idea become a $20 billion company so what little limit they might have had on some idea is completely gone now. "We just need to replace every grasshopper with a small spaceship".
And then there are the sci-fi people. SMHhope not dumb twucker Thanks this. -
As been said before, a couple of serious accidents and the lawsuits start you will see this automation start to fade away.
Not to mention the displacement of a million jobs that are not minimum wage jobs.
It’s one thing to displace a lettuce picker making minimum wage vs. a middle class truck driver. There are downstream effects.Deere hunter Thanks this.
