Yeah people do this ALL the time outside of trucking. I hear of many guys starting companies, or buying to grow it and (just) TO sell it for more.

    Just a thought

When you get to the beach, rum and coke stage holla! I live on a sandbar an I know of several other lovely beaches nowhere near me that would work for you. ;)

Far as letting someone run the route for you...I can only speak on a smaller scale. I have a buddy who tried this with a local bread route. He tried to do this four years ago. He's still running an maintaining the route because everyone he's tried to put in the spot has failed in one spot or another. So he's selling now or shutting down if he doesn't get it sold by next year. Can't seem to find someone with a knack for business. Most seem to fail when it comes to dealing with the customers, billing, etc. There is more to running a business then most folks realize.

My point is...it can go good or bad having someone run your route for you. If you have no desire to do it any longer, in my opinion...best to sell out take the money an run. Get the most you can of course. I'd be upset if someone ruined something I worked hard to keep going , make profitable an have a good rep. Then again though...big checks with lots of zeroes would have me not really giving a flying flick. :)

Good luck to you when you decide to get out. An exit plan is always a good thing to have for all kinds of situations in life.

I'll go sit in the hills with my rum and coke before a beach. Like I said you'd have to find somebody you've known awhile and trust pretty much with your life to keep it running for you, make them a partner would give them a little more motivation than if it was just a job.

Far to many people out there think running a business an making it profitable is just so simple. When in reality it can be far from it depending on the business.

Anyhow...yes you need to have the right people in place. @Rubber duck kw My comment wasn't for you in regards to the beach, my apologies. I quoted you an meant the beach part to the OP. I should have stated that.

I like hills an mountains as much as the beach. ;)

Desert, beach, mountains...long as there is not a lot of people...I'm good. This is why when I do visit the beach I go to my known spots. No tourists, no locals. Just me, the ocean an the dogs if I decide to take them with me.

    Whatever your pleasure...enjoy.

The value of a company is the higher of the asset value (all the stuff, including the authority and the customer lists), or a multiple of the profits. Profit is defined as the money an owner would be able to take home after he hires people to do all the work (driving, dispatching, HR, administration and sales). Multiply any money left over (annual profit) by three to five, and that's your "business value".

You could check with an established business broker to see if he can make a market for your business. In general, it is difficult to sell a business if it makes less than 100K net annual profit per year.

The world is a commodity made up of buyers, and sellers. Or I should say flippers, and suckers.
Flip a dime for a dollar and repeat, you will be on the road to riches.
Spend a dollar to make a dime and you will be on the path to Brokeville.

I live 100 miles from Green Bay. But that does me no good.

Finding "Good" people is the problem for any business. I can employ anyone with a pulse. Finding someone who isn't just there for more then a paycheck an to do the minimum is the hard part. Heh. Someone let me know the way to find good workers vs the clock milkers/slackers an in a easier manner then trial and error, I'd love to know the easy way. Heh.

Hard working employee's who take pride in a job well done should be easy to find but at times I think finding the needle in the haystack is easier.

Sirscrapntruckalot - One who wants to work, works hard, an takes pride in a job well done is a quality trait.

Who said I short changed myself?

I can't post what they sold for but the amount for each was on both sides to a quarter of seven digit price for each. Those were just the Authorities, not the accounts, not the assets but just the authorities.

I did them a favor because they were good drivers and this was a stepping stone, don't mind helping people.

What is the point in paying that much just for the authority? Seems kind of dumb to me to pay that much for something you can get for a couple grand, must be some reason to though.
