Trucking does that by itself, you don't need the cards to do it! :biggrin_2559:

well, it's done. the new owner left 30 minutes ago, and there's a pile of cash on my living room table. all is well....... or is it?

30 years. 30 years. about 2 million miles in places nobody ever heard of and in all kinds of weather and terrain. i've done things not many could do, and did it in a way that i came home safe every time. i've had my share of close calls, and learned. now, all that knowledge and experiance is useless. just like junk in the back of a closet.

in a day or two, i suppose i'll think it was for the best, but right now, it hurts like hell. right now, i'm just another useless old man.

I'm sure you have heard of "buyer's remorse." But "seller's remorse" is there too, particularly in a case like yours. Time WILL help with that.

And I know that feeling about being a "useless old man." But THAT IS something that you can do something about. Don't sit around and let depression get the best of you. Get out and DO SOMETHING!

Yes, you certainly have earned your right to retirement. But a HAPPY retirement does not just happen. Believe it or not, you have to work at it. Otherwise, the days just sort of meld together, and you face each morning wondering why the hell you should even bother to get out of bed.

Now is the time of life to do the things you always wanted to do. It doesn't matter if it is playing, such as golf, fishing, ATVing or whatever, or if it something constructive, such as going back to school, or volunteering. There will likely come a time when you are "all played out." When those hours on the golf course, or hiking the back country or whatever, just don't seem to mean as much to you any more.

That is the time to start the next productive stage of your life. Because, believe it or not, to an awful lot of folks, being productive IS living.

    Good luck!

    RAG Thanks this.

If you ever get the trucking itch again, you could buy an antique truck and head to shows and whatnot.
