We we're hoping it was a freightliner hit an actual big grayhound dog and the story was, freightliner totaled, dog scratches ### and walks off. Yes i know shame on me for a sense of levity on such an occasion.

So someone penciled their PTI and blew a steer and wasn't prepared to deal with that.

Yup, we should allow even more immature people to drive trucks. Pretty soon we won't need to have wars for population control.

Hope it saved an ATA member some money to hire whoever it was.

May the victims families find both peace and a #### good lawyer.

Well my post was deleted. But it didn't have anything to do with the accident, so there's that. :)

Someone’s make a lot of assumptions, without knowing any facts except the truck blew a steer tire.

Exactly. I picked up a bolt in the tread of my steer once. The only reason I knew it was there was because I heard the air leak soon afterward.

But how did you hear it while you were driving?

I'm glad you asked. I wasn't wearing a hoodie, or earbuds. The radio was turned off. I wasn't talking on the phone. I had my windows cracked. And I was listening to the truck. Yes, that's right. I listen to the truck while driving. I pay attention to how it reacts. I investigate strange odors, sounds or movements.

I heard the air leak through the crack in the passenger side window, the sound reflecting off the concrete side of a bridge that I passed over. It stopped every time the bolt contacted the road. My next stop happened to be about a mile down the road, and the truck was handling normally, so I continued on and planned to investigate after stopping.

When I found the problem, I positioned the truck with the tire rotated to stop the leak, got road service scheduled, and started unloading the truck. By the time I had finished my delivery, road service had replaced the tire, and I lost no time.

Pay attention to your truck while you're driving.

Anyone can blow a steer, or any other tire, at any time. This kind of immediate finger pointing before an investigation is exactly what hinders progress and encourages knee-jerk protests and policy changes. Maybe you should hang up your keys and start a career in journalism. You’d fit right in over there with your big mouth and little brain.
