Not so much about speeding up as maintaining at first and then slowly letting off the throttle.

I've had a steer tire or two blow out on me, the last thing you do is hit the brake. Foot off pedal and hold on, steer truck in direction you want to go or steer straight ahead, the better option. These mishaps were in company trucks when I was green and naive...

Now, owning my own truck, check pressures weekly +, inspect daily. Keep speed to a minimum depending on outdoor temps. This is not a game. Do not over inflate the steers tires to get better fuel mileage. Bad things happen. 100 to 110 psi. Replace steer tires every two to three years, if they need it or not.

I agree, get the "F" off! of Facebook
I ditched that fuctard social network years ago.
Another obvious thing I wanted to point out. The name of this sub- forum is "Trucking Accidents ".
If I personally didn't want to read the daily gloom and doom and carnage associated with a trucking accidents, I would simply avoid clicking .

    Thank you...
I too had a steer tire blow out on me.
It was a newly installed steer. I was traveling 75 mph on I-15 when it blew.
Turns out, after an investigation by Kenworth, with whom we lease our trucks, it ended up being a manufacturing defect. In other words a total catastrophe failure.
It just blows my mind that these simple minded, steering wheel holders think that a pre-trip is the catch all. They have their little minds made up that with a PTI performed, nothing at all will happen, they will be protected despite Murphy's law.

75 mph on a new steer...? 75 mph anywhere in these trucks is beyond foolish and dangerous. Especially if heavy. Just saying, I think that is stupid in more than a few regards. Flame suit on. ;-)

    Really??
The speed limit is 80 mph on I-15 (Utah) and I-80 (Wyoming).
    Areas that I travel frequently.
The tires are rated for 75 mph.
    I don't drive a castrated truck.
I haul a Mobil medical laboratory to rural hospitals. People's lives depend on me arriving at a certain time.
You' all that haul freight, I salute you.
I hauled a reefer over the road for years.
I've stepped up my game. That means taking a few more risks.
I'm not violating any laws nor am I running my tires past their rates limit.
So, in closing I appreciate your opinion.
But I have one of my own.
You guys in your 60 mph tampons with wheels....stay out of the hammer lane.
    Best regards
