Semi Crash Closes I-94

MILWAUKEE COUNTY - , A semi tractor trailer traveling eastbound on I-94 lost control, jackknifed and struck the median barrier wall. It happened At 4:46 am Sunday just east of S. 84th Street.

Diesel fuel leaked from one of the tanks of the truck. Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies closed all lanes of traffic while they cleaned up the fuel. The Milwaukee Fire Departments HazMat team was also on scene.

I-94 reopened around 8:30am Sunday morning.

No injuries resulted from the crash, which involved only the semi. The semi was empty at the time of the crash. When the truck hit the wall, it ended up partially on top of the wall.

Initial reports from the driver of the semi indicate he hit a snowy spot on the freeway and lost control of the truck. The investigation in the crash continues. It is too early at this point to determine what citations the driver of the truck will be issued.
