im already retired collecting S.S. I cant live on my S.S, not collecting Pension,or investments, right now, the wife has the same together total= $7300,month. We have a lot going on financially, but almost clearing it up. i need $9000,00 month to live comfortably. I have been planning this for a LONG TIME, ha,ha,ha. Not easy.
I really hope the younger generation starts planning ahead, because, they are not going to see S.S for a long time, i would say in there mid 70`s

one house is paid off i am selling it, i want $500K for that home, the other house we own, i owe $180 on that one. once i sell the larger home, im HOME FREE, which i look forward too. Everything relies on your spending habbits. I saw poeple going through Mcdonalds using credit card or debit, NOOOO, you dont do that. Being retried i stay home, that way i wont go out and spend money.

Now we have a Grand Daughter, needs $25K for college. NO !!!!! her daddy is rich!! and my wife is weak.ha, ha,ha. she says he couldnt get a loan because he signed for someone, and defaulted on the loan, so he had to pick it up. Bul crp. He bought a foreclosure farm for $900K. I dont want them fo take a dime of our $$$ Thats the other problem, family wants their hands out, NOOOO, get your student loans and pay on therm. OH !! thats right, Grand Daughter, cant get student loans. WHY, DADDY is rich, and they only give grants ,and loans to lower income families.

Actually I find that using credit cards is a far more intelligent way to spend money in my opinion. Just need to pay it all off every month. My wife got us credit cards (Visa) from Sams Club. Its a regular Visa, can be used anywhere. The "points" we get on it can be used on anything in Sams. I mean if you are going to spend money, may as well get points for doing it, right?

And I agree on the house thing. Our has been paid off for a while now. We are currently buying a house in Florida (350k, put 26k down on it for the changes we made to the original plan). AFTER we close on it, we will list our house in Minnesota (425k). We have enough cash on hand/retirement funds to write a check for the Florida house, but if we go through the builders finance company THEY pay the closing costs. So we are going to do that and then write them a check after the house in Minnesota sells (and its no secret, they know what our plan is). Should leave us with an additional 100 grand after paying off the house down there.

VERY WELL SAID, i really like what you are doing, and how your plans ahead are. AWESOME!
With the extra cash, invest, live off the dividends ,i know not much, but that $100K will go a LONG WAY. Nest Egg.Plus if you ever needed it, ITS there!
Our theory is , if we dont have the cash, we dont buy it.I really feel for the younger generation, and hope they get it right.

There are part time jobs out there. Especially if you have fork lift cert.

I started my current gig as part time and the one before it was part time. Both places tend to treat you as part time also as if you are a bit less than the others who are full time because after all you are part time and to some that means expendable and expected to be highly flexible lol. Expect to get the worst truck most of the time unless you fill in for vacation then drive whatever the vacationing driver was.

I am full time now and enjoying that better.

The reason I mention fork lift cert is several companies in the metroplex hire part time for that quite often. I love loading and unloading my own truck. No sitting around waiting and can set things up my way.

Some of the USPS contractors - 10 Roads Express, Evo Transportation, maybe others - have Part Time positions. Also Amazon contractors. Among LTL companies, I've seen Part Time openings recently at ABF and Pitt Ohio.
