You’re right. I called 911 on a suspected impaired truck driver yesterday. I followed the truck for 90 minutes weaving all over the place. He came over the dotted line 2 ft when he passed me. Cops never showed up.

As for the other implication....those are the search words and those are the results.

Yeah, a bit much, one post would have done. I think people who lost someone, should not be there. I mean, what, is that going to admonish this guy further? I know people need someone to "blame", the anguish must be overwhelming, I'd be just as upset, but saying something like, "you killed my daughter", come on, that's foolish. The guy didn't plan to kill anyone, he went to work, like we all do( or did) and screwed up big time, this could have happened to any one of us. Who here can honestly say, they never had a situation where they, by who knows how, barely made it. Chance is part of a truckers life, and this guy ran out of luck, I mean, like I said a while back, who knows who plans these things, another 5 seconds either way, and it never would have happened, and as a person, you can't leave the house thinking nothing will happen, because nothing happened yesterday. You can't have zero risk in life.I know it's tragic, life has a history of being tragic. When I'd pass a tragedy, I'd slow down, say some measly prayer, grab another gear, and mash the throttle. If I got hung up on every crash I saw, I never would have made it 35 years. It's something, as a driver, you have to expect.

It's not chance. In fact when you tailgate and don't pay attention it's a guarantee. When aa truck is weaving down the road like a drunk going to get more liquor and the cops don't respond to a 911 call it's a guarantee. All due respect Semi but until you drive the roads in Ontario, you don;t know what you're talking about on this topic. Are you seriously going to say that that is not a disproportionate number? This is an epidemic

Driving the 401 this past summer often felt like I had narrowly completed a tour of duty in Iraq. Down my way (London to Windsor) they have multiple single lane construction zones. That always ends well with the never ending 105kmh races....o_O. The crashes are so frequent I am left wondering if the injury and mortality rate recorded during the construction isn't more than what will be saved from doing the entire project in the first place. But what do I know. I'm just a dumb white guy. I wonder if we will ever look at the hard data and call a spade a spade.

You're right, I've never even been to Canada, but I don't see how US driving is any different. Remember, I came from Wisconsin, that continually comes in #1 in drunk driving ( and are somehow proud of that fact.) in the nation. I can't say why this happened and this guy should never drive again, but this goes on everyday, and I say this cautiously, but maybe it's time to get out of driving, for good. I did and the only time I look back, is on this site. Take care, pal.

    That's the truth.

This epidemic of idiots running into stopped/slowed traffic isn't going to end. Nothing scarier than being at the end of a line of stopped traffic. Nothing we can do is going to make everyone pay proper attention though and I wish for an education campaign on how to approach slow downs. It amazes how people will rush to the end of the line to protect their spot in line and put them self in such a dangerous place purposely.

We need for more to slow early.

I drive NY and PA and iIt is way better there. I breathe a sigh of relief when I cross that border. It’s really that bad. There is a total disregard for human life among some drivers here

I don't see a big difference between the GTA and Chicagoland.

Once you get out of the big metro areas I do find four wheelers in the US to be a bit better around big trucks though.
