Bulldozer? What's a bulldozer? Amphib SeaBees work over the water. 'Dozers don't do us a whole lot of good out there. LOL

I think what made me the most jealous, is that SeaBees got to continue to wear Sateen utilities. That was the height of military fashion in my opinion. Dress Blues were a close second.

When I was in, we were wearing BDUs.

It's all changed now. The Bee's wear the same as anyone else. I do agree thou, I liked the green because you could make them look sharp.
Injun, I hate to tell you this but both ACB's have plenty of bulldozers. They need them to pull the cosways up and to do other beach work. I wish I still had the picture when ACB1 stuck 2 D7's in the ocean. One you could see about 6 inches of the stack and the other was completely under water. They did get them out and repaired them, however, it took their 250T floating crane to get them unstuck.Injun Thanks this. -
Just yankin' a chain or two. Yes, we did have to haul that ell-caz up onshore with something. When I wasn't watching the end of it, I was out over the water answering to "Hey, Boats!" like everyone else. It didn't matter what your rating was. If you were out there building it, tearing it down and stowing in on the merchant ship, you were "Boats." And it was an honor to be called that by the BMs especially when it wasn't your rating and it came from the BMC. But never mistake an ACB for a NMCB. Kinda like calling a Marine, "Hey, Squid!"
(Now that this thread has been toroughly hijacked....by the O/P) I remember the grenade launcher range...and the firing range....and the barbeque afterward.....man, those Marines could put the brewskis away! -
First time a civvie-type called me a "Sarge", I almost passed out and had to change my shorts. Course.... I couldn't control the long stream of profanity that escaped from my beer-sucker.
Semper Fidelity and Injun Thank this. -
RIGHT HERE!
This is Sarge.....Sargent ShriverJarhed1964 Thanks this. -
OK, Semper Fidelity has been informed by Werner that I will not immediately be going over 48. I told em I was BAD and NATIONWIDE (laughter cue) but
Western Regional is what they have for me, and monday morning its yellow footprints time at the Werner YARD at 51 and Lower Buckeye Road in Phoenix, 0630 hours!
Looks like I am an experienced driver in their estimation, so it looks like 3 weeks to a month with a trainer.Last edited: Feb 17, 2011

OOOOHHHHHRRRRAAAAHHHHH!!!!! I didn't read all the posts but where all were you stationed when you were in (just 3/9)? I am past your time in (99-06 for me) but it's nice to talk. I was with 3/8 Kilo 2/6 Wpns, 6th Reg, 3/6 Wpns, and 4th MEB (AT) in Afghanistan.
Ok, lets hear about how much harder it was back in your day than it was in mine (my whole family gives me that talk whenever we get together). It reminds me of a comic strip that was in the "Marine Times" that had men sitting at a bar and each one talked about how far they marched and how bad the boots were back then. Finally the next to last guys says "all we had were our bare feet to march 100 miles a day" and the REALLY old timer next to him yealls out "YOU HAD FEET?!"
Seeing the yellow footprint comment gave me a flashback...wow.Injun and Semper Fidelity Thank this.
