Would you recommend someone else in your exact situation also volunteer to get a "refused drug test" on their record? Make sure you look up the SAP process and maybe read the previous threads about completing the SAP.

That's why I say the drug screen is often an effective IQ test. Exempting the OP from what follows: does anyone doubt we have more than enough low IQ people on the road? Some people refuse the test because they would fail and "refusal to test" is better to talk about when they get the next job versus failing the test. For those that think the test is unfair or that they protest the drug tests on principal, how about taking your stand BEFORE you generate a failed/refused test and starting a new job in an industry that doesn't drug test. Wouldn't that be smarter? Unless you plan to run for political office you are not helping anyone by VOLUNTEERING to lose your job over a test you KNOW can be ordered at any time.
Make long-term decisions and stop just waiting to see life happen to you.drvrtech77, 201, buzzarddriver and 1 other person Thank this. -
Every DUI attorney tells prospective clients to never submit to the field sobriety test or any other test even if it means losing your license for refusing. There can be numerous POSSIBLE reasons for refusing a test. There is virtually only one reason for failing the test. Maybe drinkers & drug user forget good advice when confronted with the test. They don't call it "dope" for no reason.

I don't know what the law is but I've never been on duty when going for a random. You can be sent for a random at any moment as alluded to. Also, it can be observed as well. I have had observed drug tests. It's no big deal. You can't really afford to refuse a drug test under any circumstances. I will say however, I do blame your company, or any company that waits til you get home or some craziness like that to send you for a random. Anytime I've had a random, the company brought me to the terminal and I went from there.

Ha! Good point on the IQ test. "Iowa Assessments", formerly Iowa Test of Basic Skills,
a name that apparently doesn't apply today, never told me I was qualified to be a truck driver. The IQ status is not entirely true, however, and denial has never been more prevalent, who me? I think "refusal for test" goes a long way, and may as well fail. It all goes back to what THEIR daddy told them, don't worry, you can be a mess and still drive a truck. Well, that doesn't fly anymore, thank goodness.

Why would you have to be close to your truck for a random drug test? I name was drawn earlier this year and I got an address to a collection site in NE because I was on home time, only we were in Ohio visiting my partner’s family. So I got sent a new address to a collection site in Chillicothe OH. I went and gave them my sample. Technically it should’ve been logged but by the time I got home and went back to work it was well past 8 days so I didn’t edit my log.bryan21384 Thanks this.
