Well it appears I should of gone on here first before attending JB's orientation. I too was lied to about everything being ok before I quit my job and gave notice to my landlord only to be let go after the last day in orientation for some excuse about a ticket on my MVR which i have a copy of and there is no such ticket. And by the way my recruiter calls back and leaves a voicemail that he is sorry and right now JB is just being picky because freight is slow.
So my fellow truckers who have been lied to by JB and let go for some crappy excuse, what do we do to make sure this doesn't happen to the next truck driver? Is there not a law or something that can be done about this?

I think alot of people should read these threads before applying to JB for an OTR position. I think the writing is on the wall as far as their OTR operation is concerned, as in....give it time and it will be no more.

J.B. Hunt did you a huge favor by sending you home. Did you actually think you were going to be an O/O? You were going to be a glorified company driver....and thats all any lease purchase is.
Listen...Lease purchases are nothing but BAD. There are no good ones.
Don't try to own your own truck until you can get independent financing and lease to a no strings attached company.
Never buy or lease your truck thru the company you will be hauling freight for. They will hold that finance agreement over your head and you will never ever have enough equity in that truck you own it outright. But say you beat the odds.
CONGRATULATIONS!
By the time in the unlikely event you do pay it off it will be so worn out you will have to buy another and so the cycle repeats itself. That is unless J.B. wants to sell you an upgrade sooner. You will either buy the newer truck or your freight will shut off like a water facuet.
It's sucker bait. Drive a company truck until you can afford to do what I said previously. -
1)Why do companies not fully check things out before bringing the drivers into orientation?
It seem that it costed jb over $1000 in this case. i do not know if bubba was paid for orientation?
2) Why in the FARK, would you want to do a lease-purchase program? -
I think when you to make these life-changing moves based on the promises a recruiter gives you, you should be able to sue Jobber and the recruiter. Think I'm nuts? Don't underestimate the power of class-action. You guys who've been burned by JobHunt's recruiter's broken promises need to get together and file a lawsuit. This is a pattern and JobHunt should be held accountable. If I say something in the papers about you and you are harmed, you can sue me. If I steal your idea and make money on it, that is money you don't make. You can sue me. If I'm a recruiter and convince you through promises I can deliver a better job and said job then falls through (costing you money), you should be able to sue me. At least this is how it SHOULD be. See if it is. Call a lawyer and see what you can do.

Or at least sue in small claims court.
That problem with that, is they list/tell you the requirments before you apply, so that would be one possible defense for them.
My question is why don't the companies thouroughly check things out before bringing you in so as to avoid all the hassles to begin with?
i understand that the drug testing must be done during orientation but other than that............. -
One reason they don't check you out before orientation is history. It's 'dollars and sense', really, but it's sense gained through experience. Back in the day, trucking companies probably checked people's backgrounds before those people ever arrived at orientations. Unfortunately, performing the checks costs money, and many candidates who were checked in the early days opted to go to other outfits and never went to the orientations. Companies learned the hard way to hold off on doing the checks until the drivers demonstrated their true interest and were actually sitting in orientation classes.
This is but one reason the 'orientation' scheme was started.
Another reason the orientation scheme was started is the fact that orientations keep candidates handcuffed to a carrier until the checks are performed. Sometimes the checks take several days, and many a driver will get impatient and go to work for someone else if he's not chained down. Orientations serve to chain drivers so they won't wander off, especially those good candidates a company wouldn't want to lose to a competitor. They set you up in a hotel room (sometimes nice), feed you three squares (at the better outfits), and are willing to take you around town if you need that while at orientation. But they are still chaining you. I say this knowing that orientations used to be five-day outings. Today, I think orientations have been condensed down to one or two days, so the 'kennel effect' isn't as strong. -
I am really sorry that this has happenend to You, all this for a truck that has almost half a mill on it and is 3 years old, on top pf that I bet it would take You forever to hit that mill mark with the type of mileage You would have gotten, Like someone els said, everyone should start writing letters to all the on line recruiters Bubba j, and whatever els and get this none sence knocked off, I actually had considered hunt at one time, but when they started to call me 2 to 5 times a day and that is no stretch of the truth, they were like a bill collector, even after I told them I was employed it continued, and when I would tell a hunt cold caller I was employed they would ask how much I was making, and who I was with, when I would refuse a few of them would get rude and hang up, one Guy even called me a piece of Sh(* and made the promise that I would have a hard time finding employment if I were looking again, this is insanity, I couldnt get over it, here they are trying to suck me into a deal and yet they are threatening me.. It has taken 3 months for the phone to stop from JB recruiters..

And another reason is all expenses occurred is a tax wright off as a loss... It does not cost them a dime... But may cost you everything.....
Always make sure they do all pre hire checks before attending orientation... get it in wrighting....
