My bad volvodriver, I didn't realize your authority was still active...No I wouldn't consider leasing on to another carrier and yours is still active. Run the boards until you can get direct. Like I said earlier, no need to be aggressive as the other business is doing well. Just run the boards and you should be alright there good buddy.

I am located in west central Indiana. My new business is looking to net $150k this year but I kept the previous owner on payroll as he didn't want the headaches anymore. Great friend of mine and I have worked with him for the last 10 years. Fully trust the man. I do not need to be around holding any hands.

Currently have a covered wagon but thinking about grabbing a Conestoga. I hauled strictly coils previously but thinking of going specialized for the shipper I am working on getting in.

    Thanks for the replies.

Seems like you have a good handle on what you want and sounds like you've been around for awhile. Personally I do not think your setting your expectations too high with $1.80-2.00 a mile off the boards in your area. I agree with the others, start small and keep overhead low until you land a direct shipper you like. Happy trails.

You have a great opportunity. Post your truck up and dictate the rate always from the comfort of home. If you get loads that's cool, if not who cares. Best way to get in tune with that particular market
