I would never live in a northern city. Im a country boy, and I hate arrogant fast talkers, reffering to everyone as ''Joe'' or ''Son""!

Credit score checks go on for almost every aspect of your life, Auto and health insurance companies like to see that credit score to set rates, as do employers. Part of a good tenant screen is to look at the credit score.

Most look at credit to see what kind of decision maker you are. I'm sure its an insurance thing. Since this is a decision making industry and the wrong decision can cost millions of dollars. They will look at that to factor in what type of driver you are. (Will you cost them lots of money or Will you make them lots of money due to your good decision making skills). Its all about statistics I'm sure. I also believe they factor in the fact the country has went into a recession and lots of people who have had good credit over the last few years. There credit may have went into the dumps because of unemployment and or not being able to make the kind of money they were making in their previous employment. If they really wanted to not hire because of bad credit. There would be a serious shortage of drivers. I know I'd be out of a job myself. So really nothing to worry about, unless you have had years of making bad decisions in credit and in life in General. So thinking a company has no right to ask a driver who will be driving their equipment down public road ways about their credit history. Is almost like saying they have no right to look at your previous employment, or criminal back ground. IMHO

Definitely not looking to hire on with the typical favorites. I want to invest my time and hard work ethic to a company who treats there drivers like people, and not like a number within their statistics. And I have a couple in mind. As of lately though, those teal letters are really starting to seem like a career home for me.

I see your point, but I still disagree. My credit isn't perfect by long shot. If it were one of those men on the freecreditscore.com commercial, it would set a guisness world record for the shortest adult in the history of mankind. But I dont think my credit score should determine the outcome of my employment with a company. I have worked hard since I was 14 years old. I cant help the fact that im not made of steel and I get sick sometimes... Or the fact that I have a giving heart, and decided to let my little sister get a Sprint phone in name 7 or 8 years ago, and she deciced to skip out on the bill. But these are things in my opinion that shouldn't be held against me, determining if im employable. Once again, im not looking for pitty, just making light to my situation and whether or not I should be worried about wasting time and money, going to a truck driving school.

First off buddy the trucking companies probably have a worse credit score then you do. So you really don't have nothing to worry about unless you are trying to get on with Wal Mart or other picky carriers. Most are all the same and will bend you over with no hesitation. It's there truck they can hire who they want to hire, and they can fire who they want to fire. It's just the way this is.

If you have verifiable work history with little or no gaps for the last 10 years. As well as no bad criminal history. That's all that you should be worried about. They do the credit check to satisfy the insurance companies. Also if you coming into this industry. Nothing is going to be fair. You will be treated like a dog for the most part by everybody. So you better have your big boy pants on and not wear your feelings on your shoulder.

Some carrier's will check your DAC. DAC falls under the same rules as your credit report, so they may have you sign one of the release forms in order to check your DAC report to see if there is anything negative or to quickly check your driving history. They may not be checking your credit at all. Those who do check your credit may be looking to find a different avenue to check your employment history. Personally, I think that it is too easy for companies to get into others credit files. It should not be available to anyone who is not checking to extend credit. I think that is one reason we have so much identy theft.
