This is just another one of those "modern day " situations, where companies can pull this kind of garbage. Years ago, I don't ever remember that happening, as once I was dispatched on a load, there was no way to get in touch with me until I got there. Not to say that I didn't have loads cancel, but never "mid-flight" and a push of a button will make everything right. Sounds like a lot of driving for nothing, newbies, take note!!!!
companies got tired of incompetent scammers scamming them, wrecking trucks, abbandoning trucks, etc, so they put in DAC to prevent scammers from scamming other companies I also think its used as a threat "do this and we'll write it on your DAC" but one company put somethig on my DAC and wrote it in riddles, I have no idea what they meant. but most companies i've ever talked to offer you the chance to tell your side of the story

Not to say that I didn't have loads cancel, but never "mid-flight" and a push of a button will make everything right. Sounds like a lot of driving for nothing, newbies, take note!!!!
I have had plenty of loads cancelled..i have had a dispatcher having me pickup a load and scale it on a nice long trip and get a message to pull over and swap it w some short load going into NJ/Ny.. I have had plenty of things that made me mad and we all have had many reasons to gripe.. But when a company drivers starts telling the company that owns the truck what he is going to do..and NOT do,it doesn't end well for the driver.. Example:Company receives phone call from customer to ship freight, dispatch looks on computer and says: Yes,we have a truck just a few miles from you empty and he can be right over to load. Company sends dispatch to driver, driver says..umm.No thanks. What would you do if you owned the truck?..dispatch a driver from 100 miles away? or insist that driver who is nearest go get the load? so you call driver again..he says.."No thanks again If I own that truck/trailer I promise you the driver would be walking home.(period)
then I'll be able to go home. See my son that's 4 years old every day and my wife and look for a local or a completly different job in a different industry. I do have a degree I can work with but because I wanted to make money now, instead of later I decided trucking was the best option. So be it if ONE company cleans me off their pay roll. What's meant to be will be.
You probably should have told them you couldn't legally pick up today and have them get you a new appt in the morning, but it all worked out in the end. I got a service failure a while back, I told them to mail it to my PO Box and I'll frame it and hang it next to my deer head. They told me they don't mail anything out, I told them to give me a hundred service failures then, they don't mean anything, LOL, I guess I better watch out for that team truck too. Some people? Trkdrvr ???
You don't own the truck so you can only speculate on "what you would do of you did." If they fire me they have to find someone as good as me or worse. Which could possibly happen but seeing in the only one left except one more guy in a 8 driver orientation that's a pretty high turn over rate. You seem to be pretty smart so how long would it take to go 118 miles @ 55 mph. Mean while hitting 495 in boston MA before going 93 north @ 2-4 pm in rush hour. Wouldn't have made it. Then I would have been looking for a shoulder to park on and ect ext and the ball just keeps rolling. ive had pay checks @ 400 dollars two weeks in a row when I average 800 or more I've had loads 300 miles and I don't say a word. I keep to myself I shut my #### mouth and I get the job done is say I have a 85-90% on time delivery or better I run easily 10,000+ per 4.5 weeks I stay out and this is the very first time I said no because it wasn't going to work out. I can stick up for my self, there's always a reaction or a consequence but I'm prepared for whatever happens. I'm on e logs I can only do so much. I run legally. I run hard. I learned from my mistakes and running hard and over the speed limits only leads to worse scenarios because I've been there so what I didn't go because to couldn't. What if I got a ticket and then was fired for speeding.
what would you do, if you couldn't legally pick up a load in time ?? Run illegal and possibly lose everything you have? rip out a log page?? edit, sorry everyone, I just fed a troll
