Service Hours Question

    You are right. The truck wouldn't have to be shut down if the other driver has hours available. But you would not have to get a 34 hr restart. You can just run recap hours and resume driving when you get time back. 34 hr restarts are ALWAYS simply an option, and are NEVER required or mandated by any law. Often they are your smartest and best option, of course. But they are still just that, an option.

    This is exactly what I had in mind for "Playing the margins". (And other members talking about having 72 or 74 hours as on duty and not being issued a ticket); could I run my hours to 70, start 34 off-duty, let the other guy run his 14 hours, he hits his 70, and then the truck stops for 20 instead of 34. Good to know that its legal. Thanks.
