With McElroy, you normally get a restart every Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. You will pick up your Monday load Friday and it will route you back through home for the restart. You will start driving Sunday so that you get a full 10 hour break after arriving Sunday evening at your Monday morning consignee. The 168 rule goes back to the beginning of the last restart, so you can restart every week and have a fresh 70. You will only run recap if you get in very late on a Friday and need to move early Sunday, or, very rarely, Saturday morning and cannot get a full restart over the weekend.

well I hope they teach me more about this in orientation and my trainer teaches me more about cause in my school they just went over it 1 day
-
just a question but I'm curious why McElroy wants you to stay in your truck the last week of training there ?ni have no problem doing it I'm just wondering why and if you have power in it and if they would let u go to Walmart or a store in your own personal vehicle or if they would take you
-
I haven't heard about that requirement? I'm starting McElroy's orientation on March 17th. Heard quite a few good things about them. New to the industry here and just graduated from trucking school. A bit nervous about tarping etc.. School that I went to didn't touch on any of that. Basically spent three weeks taking turns driving and shift practice. Don't feel 100% prepared for the orientation. I'm an older guy starting my second career and hope that it all works out.

no problem staying in the truck the final week at all just wasn't sure why they wanted you too do they let u have in type of power tho ?so u can listen to the radio or anything ? also I am driving to McElroy in my own car so once I get taken to the hotel I should be able to go anywhere I want not have to depend on anyone to take me

The truck audio system works in the sleeper. You can set up TV, PC, etc. all powered by the truck. You can use a small inverter (<$50). You will not have your car during Final Week because you will be driving your truck home at the end of the week. For Orientation and First Week you are free to drive your car where you want to go.

yea I already know about the last week there about not having my car i plan on going home that weekend and I have already talked to my brother in law about taking me back im 351 miles from cuba Alabama lol the final week there i was told they had a few cars and vans you could borrow to go to Walmart and places like that .That is when i plan to buy what all i need for my truck small refrige maybe a microwave coffee pot and a small converter maybe a sleeping bag and things like that .What all do they have you doing the last week there do they find you a load in that area that heads back your way ?
