Wheel ends..
So about 9 years or so I was headed Into Iowa on a 2 lane. We had earlier swapped all of our trailers to wide based tires(super singles).
As I start grabbing some gears going up a hill out of town I caught peripheral movement in my l mirror.
I look and see my tire and wheel have separated from the axle hub and are rolling up the hill headed for a church. I managed to pull off and inspect the calamity. Bearing failure. A nationwide bulletin put out to all the plants.
Seems the brain trust never swapped bearings as they changed to the singles, w more concentrated weight on the bearings it was the second failure in the country and got their attention.
Changed every one out and I think they may still be in litigation w timpkin over costs.
Did a bit of damage to the church and I needed a empty trailer to come down and off loaded the trailer, chained up the axle and snuck back north.

Not related but 2 wks ago had a Freightliner airliner leaf spring let go from the bushing at the frame hanger, bolts backed completely out....fun stuff.
