Why not start a chain of diesel repair shops that actually knows how to troubleshoot without replacing every part but the right one.

You have had a bad experience by the sounds of it. And honestly the money that you need to trouble shoot most things now is ridiculous.

He isn't the only one who runs into that. It's very common out there. These new new mechanics can only replace what a computer tells them, pathetic.

I agree, but he said he doesn't really enjoy turning wrenches all that much.

I mean a small shop with a good reputation for being honest, fair, and for doing quality work (Esepecially the trouble shooting part beyond a trouble shooting tree), will stay packed with independents looking to do good business. Loyal customers too. -Would be so busy you would need to schedule people weeks ahead.

I know a shop JUST like this. To bad it's not in my HOMETOWN!

So he's going to send the trucks somewhere else when they break? Best way not to turn wrenches is to not play with items that have nut and bolts.

Lol comical. Every day . I don't want to turn wrenches every day. If you take care of your equipment and have good drivers they don't need work every day. And as far as the money to trouble shoot them yes it goes up every year they make a change to a new truck. That is the key word new truck once that truck is not longer new the price drips for the older information. most of the parts that are changed now have a procedure that must be followed on a computer for the part to be warrantied even if they already know the problem. It is pathetic I do agree with that.
