In all seriousness here, if your laptop has a step by step GPS based driving program that gives audible driving directions (like TomTom) can it really be more distracting? If all you have to do is type in your destination before you start driving and then listen to the directions what's the harm in that? Maybe he prefers to have 1 electronic device in his truck that can handle many things as opposed to multiple electronic devices. Just a thought, please don't beat me up. I'll sic my husband and his dog on you if you do! :occasion5: :smt042 I remember having to listen to Paddy's convuluted directions when driving cross country, now that was a distraction. He always seemed to get his north, south, east, west mixed up. He might be a touch dyslexic or something. Really when someone insists you run I-5 east to California from Washington, now that's a distraction trying to argue that one out.

While I do occasionally type in 2 zip codes into my searchbar, to find mileage to next and if i can make it, i preset my laptop to play music and radio shows while stopped.

    For instance...

Driving get a load assignment over the qualcomm.

I write down the zip code on my notepad.

I refer to my notes on my deliveries zip.

I plug into searchbar the zips ie "14416 to 14604" and get the milesge on google

Ok now i know pu is XXmiles from delivery I have a 0900 delivery and a 1300pu I can make it assuming unloaded ontime.

My Delorme Earthmate GPS and Street Atlas 2007 has a night time display mode that makes everything black except for the next turn and a few sideroads. Of course I just got it and have not yet used it at night so I will report back when I do. It should be within a few days.

Most laptops have a dimming key on them. With the fn key pressed you should have 2 keys with a circled star with up and down to brigthen or dim
