I have some amps around that I fixed up before I had to break-down my work bench they are 150 and 250 I think I also have a nice 148GTL I put upper 40's and lower 40's in it as well as variable power and some power mods it's real nice rig. Anyway I will dig them out and see what they are I have some other mobiles as well that have fixed up ready to go.. I upped an image of my bench hopefully it will be up and working again soon..

I have a couple of amps I fixed up and also some mobile units and a bunch of mic's all in perfect working order I have a COBRA 148GTL with upper and lower 40's and vari-power all tuned and like new as it was never used until I did the testing after all the work was done.. I will get out there and dig all this stuff out and see what all I have..
Sorry for the double post I could not find a way to delete it.. -
Heck of a setup Vintech! Looks really nice!
I have an old 148 GTL but it needs fixed. Also have a brand new 29LTD and the Galaxy DX44V.
All of these are spare radios. I may look into fixing the 148 so i have SSB.
Sounds like the Fatboy would work well with my 35-40 watt Galaxy.
I would love to find an old base amp but they are expensive!
What amps do you have? any for sale? -
I have seen a radio that originally put out a legal 10W peak get "tuned up" to 40W peak, and end up putting LESS power in the channel than it originally did. The rest of the power was splattered all over the place, just making noise for others on different channels.
FYI, I've worked Europe from Pennsylvania using only 5W SSB on the 10 meter ham band. You really don't need a lot of power to work skip.EZ Money Thanks this. -
I'm going to get into the storage area today and dig out everything that I have for sale, I will let you know what I have in the way of amps and radios and whatever else...
Vintech -
I found 2 of the amps that I fixed up one is a GALAXY 225 the other is a TRUCKER 150 as far as far as the Galaxy DX44V is concerned these had a single 2SC1969 in terms of real RMS Power this is probably doing a real 15 maybe 20 watts of RF it may show 30+ on a peak reading meter. It has hi low power settings so on the low side both of these amps would probably work just fine. Anyway I'm looking for 75 for the galaxy 225 and 65 for the trucker 150 or a 120 for both that was the repair bill on them and the customers never picked them up so I have had them for over a year it's time to let'em go.
I also have a NEW GALAXY FC347 Digital Freq Counter for 30.00
I Can take credit cards just add 10 bucks for shipping to any of these I got one of those SQUARE Devices for my cell phone and can take info over the phone as well..EZ Money Thanks this. -
Thanks Vintech,
My old Galaxy 44 has the dial for the output power.
I would be interested in the Galaxy and the freq.counter.
Do you have Paypal?
Just shoot me a PM and we will talk about it,Thanks! -
remember that it is all about the grounding and the SWRs. the best grounding i ever had on a base antenna was an antron 99 with the skirt on a tripod 75 feet above ground level on a 2 story house. i ran solid copper wire from the pl259 on the antenna with a hose cleamp to an old copper radiator out of a mid 70s buick. the radiator was buried in the ground several feet. zero and i mean zero noise interference.
EZ Money Thanks this.
