You don't see many ground plane kits on the Antron 99 type antennas for some reason. My guess is if they made that much of a difference, everybody would have the ground plane kit.

Reading from other sites like Maul Droppers the ground plane kit does not improve anything......everyone says it is a waste of money.
I think getting mine up about another 20ft will be my best bet. -

No skip last night but i was still able to talk about 40 miles to another base.
The search is on for a tower.....lol! -

I did talk to Cuba,PA and Texas yesterday. Skip was in and out for a few hours.
If i go much higher my antenna will be in a tree top!
I will move it when i find a tower so i can go as high as possible.I have so many trees near my shop where it is mounted now. -
West Coast was blowing smoke in the Carolinas yesterday evening. I talked to San Diego,And the Bay area...
Not bad for a thrown together base setup with a mobile radio and a small Galaxy 225 amp.
