Your best bet is to run it directly to your cigarette lighter. Because God only knows what professional electrician was in there before you.
I will check it with a cigarette lighter adapter piece. I reconnected my wires better this time and it's still not powering up. It could be a pro electrician was in there messing around or my CB is shorted out. Never thought this would turn into such a project. Lol
Like NS10 asked it is a good point by asking if your the original owner? If not that could be the issue either a CB shop that did something wrong or someone in there basement with a new set of tiny hand tools that needed to be opened. Hope you get it figured out soon or if you have a CB shop close that you can trust let them look it over.
Years ago, my Cobra went dead. I took my multimeter and went through my rig it seemed like forever trying to find the problem. The problem was the radio itself. A few months later, and a new Cobra, my neighbor who tinkers with this stuff, found that my Cobra was spiked once too many times. How, I really don't know. The new 29 worked great. Still have it, and that's been years ago. So, your problem maybe is the radio itself. Suggestion: find a used radio, any radio, and hook it up. If that radio works, then it's your Cobra that's bad.
I bought a cigarette lighter adapter piece and plug that in. My CB powered up. So the problem is the line from the battery. I can't leave it powered to the lighter port because I only have two of those. And I don't know where/how I would mount it. I'll ask the mechanic at the shop if he can fix it. I need it working for escorts and such.
