I started driving in the early 70s, yes that is 1970s. I drove for Beatrice foods, Insured Auto Transport, Carnation, Rocha Trucking, and a few others. I actually enjoyed all of them. I did what they aske me to do, they paid me, and treated me fairly. However my favorite was Insured Auto Transport, I loved the company, (out of business now) the guys I worked with, Dispatch was great.
One of the things I learned over the years that the folks that were doing most of the complaining were also the laziest ones. Also there were always those you couldn't make happy no matter what. I got to the point I felt sorry for a few of our dispatchers, they were just trying to get the job done and the less than pleasant drivers would make their lives a real pain. I grew up in a different era than the young folks today, most of us appreciated our jobs and were glad to have them.
