Yeah Yeah another "petition."
Just sue the crap out of them and make it HARDER for these companies to report and then make the reporting MORE ACCURATE!
That means fill out long sentences on what the driver did or did not do!
And make it worth while and make these sentences a minimum of 50 words so there is NO CONFUSION as to what the driver did!
BUT if a company has more than a certain amount of negative reports then DAC MUST have to go in and check that said company is not cutting and pasting complaints into the forms! That's way to easy!
Each firing is different and so should each filed complaint!
These sorry, no driving "safety" people need to actually work for that over abundant salary they make!
Quit this click on a FEW buttons and call it a freaking report!
There lies the problem! It's not accurate at all!
And stop PAYING companies to report!
I'm not totally against DAC, USIS, HireRight as they might save my wifes life, childrens or even mine from some moron who actually doesn't need to be behind the wheel but for Petes sake do an ACTUAL report!

You know if I write out a bunch of lies about or against someone, I'm liable under the law for it. There's a disclaimer about that on most of these boards. So I'm wondering what makes DAC and these trucking companies magically exempt from the law?
-
They pay for the right to post what they do. They are also supposed to report factual information. DAC or whatever they want to go by today, does not have the capacity to verify the information.
When the driver checks the file, they have the right to dispute it.
The comments that DAC makes are no different than the information that can be posted in your credit file. You have the right to correct that as well. -

When i applied for another job i found out that Conway Truckload sent in to DAC
that i had an incident. The incident was that i was hit by a deer while driving down
the interstate. When i called the Conway safety dept, and asked why they would put
something like that on my DAC i was told that any thing at all that causes monetary
damage will be put on your DAC.And this is the company that cares about its drivers. -
DAC is a joke, if the company you are applying to holds what is on there against you, then they arent worth working for anyway, that is your indiciater. Stay out of the big outfits, they will only ruin your life.

Now that I finally get unloaded the consignees systems are down and I sit for several hours waiting for them to inventory the freight by hand which places me behind schedule. At the very last minute I tell dispatch that I think I can still make on-time delivery and will try my best. I get to the last stop 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment and dispatch expresses much appreciation. Now just before all of this is when I avoided running over the front of a van that tried driving underneath my trailer which safety claims is my fault.
So, wheres their gratitude for all that we do for these companies when it comes to pulling tight dispatched loads out of our hats for avoiding all the possible accidents that may have occurred if not for us for laboring overtime without any reimbursements? Yeah, its part of our jobs but why is it we get slammed for the simplest things that go astray but when it comes to all the extra overachieved tasks we do out here without payment, these corporations simply turn the other cheek? -
I work for a good sized company with a small trucking division, 102 trucks. I'm in an even smaller division of that side, 2 trucks. They love it when I pull off something like that. The head of HR calls me every month to see how I'm doing. Dispatch is 4 people, I think, I usually only talk to two of them and all I have to say when I call is my name, they know who I am. I don't know if we even have a safety department, waste of money in my opinion. We don't wait on loads, we're not in the business of waiting on someone else to get around to letting us make money when they feel like it.
The big mega companies are so mismanaged that it's sad watching them. If you really want to keep driving, you do not have to keep working for people that don't value you. Get some experience and poke around until you find a smaller outfit. It's worth it even if it means taking a pay cut. -
I drove for Shaffer for two months back in Dec 06 and Jan 07 and I Never turned down a load and Never got over 1800 miles and the last two weeks were 880 miles and 1100 miles.I finally told them I HAD to quit because-well does that really need an explanation.
Everyone I talked to says "Really, that's weird" or " I thought that company was at the top of the food chain for company drivers" or "You must have been doing something wrong". Well let me tell you, I do not post here much but I have been driving since 1996 and have racked up 700,000 accident free miles with very few times in my career being late.I know a driver can slip through the cracks. The bad thing is I have a one of the cleanest DAC reports in the industry, it prints out on ONE page, never been fired ect, can supposedly go back to work anywhere-I cant find a job now because I worked 6 jobs in the last three years. The companys that will not hire me now are WEL,Crete,Marten,National Carriers and I am going to have to drive now for the bottom of the barrell companies. My advice-DONT JOB HOP! -
When I left my fleet manager told me that whenever you work for a large corporate company such as Crete/Shaffer than you can pretty much consider yourself expendable. Everything and anything you do for the company by going the extra distance or trying to be an above average employee will go unrecognized. You can operate in the best of character in every best possible way under any and all circumstances but the only thing the big corporation sees is black and white.
It is not what you know and I believe it has been this way for a very long time but, its who you know obviously! The administrative jerk that insisted that I resigned is in charge of safety. Apparently from what I hear (no facts) this guy has a DWI and or DUI and he is considered to be the voice of safety in this big corporation go figure. This corporation feels that this guy is the better choice who can pass judgment onto those who obviously make better decisions as far as operating a motor vehicle where others well being should be considered a priority.
I dont ever plan on getting into the seat of a large corporation ever again unless, its the very last resort.
