Shaffer - Low Miles for teams

    If you like to run, then you probably would not like working at Shaffer/Crete Carriers. They recently lost a few of their major accounts and they are having trouble keeping their teams rolling. They have a great pay package but they don't have any miles to go with the cents per mile. They try and put together drop and hook solo runs but it doesn't seem to pan out. The average team run is 750 miles. Hopefully things will change soon.:biggrin_2552:

    Wow....can't speak for teams, but if you went (or are going) through the transition to having an asset manager, that could be part of it. I'm on the Crete side, and was all but gone until I found myself with a different AM last week. Thank goodness. My last AM was just in over her head. My new AM is already showing me she knows what she's doing. She has also done this job before, unlike my last AM.

    Thanks for the advice, but we have a great asset Mgr. We have talked to other teams and the same thing is happening to them.

    That's right, and in another six months they will be a Lead Asset Manager and then 12 months after that they will be a Sr Asset manager.

    Because they can't call them what they really are, a go between.

    Dispatcher to driver: I'll see what the Governor(load planner) can spare.

    Dispatcher to planner: Governor do you have any toppins for the poor?

    Planner to Dispatcher: No, here's yesterdays stale bread.

    Dispatcher to Driver: Sorry this is all the planner has right now, I'll work on getting you something else. <hangs up phone and goes home to drink heavily>
