I have a 2016 international, recently when I start to go anything from 50-70mph my steering wheel and pretty much the whole truck starts shaking, it’s shaking at it’s worst at 50-60 but 70 it reverts back to normal, what could be the cause of this?
tires steering gear loose air ride deflated causing bad u-joint angles loose drive shaft yoke worn u-joint These are all things that can cause a bad vibration or "shake" but not all that can
Could possibly be your carrying bearing. This bearing will cause a lot of shaking or vibration on your rig when worn out. You can check it with a pry bar for up and down movement or side to side movement. Not that expensive to replace.
Vibrations are always tough, it could be many things. If the shaking is in the steering wheel, chances are it's up front. Hitting a curb can break a belt in the steer tire, and wheel bearings too. If the shaking is in the seat, it's probably a driveline bearing. I heard bad harmonic balancers cause vibrations up front too.
I would get that checked out very quickly. I suffered one of the mega fails My carrier bearing was bad I made the bad decision to say ill get it changed in the morning. Make long story short drive shaft broke at front universal joint on transmission. The drive shaft tore all electrical wires & air lines just as I passed a truck. I thank the Lord the momentum carried me to the shoulder & I didn't cause an accident it was at night raining. Don't take unnecessary risks. All the best
Could be bad tie rod end or drag link or gear box issue. Stop and get it checked before someone gets hurt.
