Hello Folks.
I have a 2009 volvo vnm. And since a week ago between 50 and 55 mph it shakes and is getting worst every time. It's doesn't do it all the time but it's more frequently. I took it to a shop to check the king pins and tie rod ends and it's all good, also the tires are good too. But i remember i didn't balance it, can that be the shaking problem?
Thank you!!!

Yes. Unbalanced tires can cause shaking, so can a whole bunch of other things.

Do your best to try and tell where it’s coming from. The front end, tires, check for any bulges on your steer tires. Your engine could be firing wrong, might need a knock sensor.

Tires, alignment, king pins, driveshafts, you name it

I had 2000 Volvo with vibration and could not find it. It was so small and seemed to come and go from day to day. I thought it was the U-Joints going bad but they check them and said they were good.
It ended up being the Carrier Bearing that held up the drive shaft under the cab. Check that out it a simple fix and simple check -
Thabk you guys, i will change the tires and do the balancing and alignment and will check the careier bearing too..
Blessings!! -
Do you have excessive cranking while starting the engine sometimes?
Its a volvo, so someone better ask!Stringb8n Thanks this. -
Look inside your fuel tank with the engine running. If you see bubbles at all, you have injector cup issues. There shouldn't be any air bubbles coming from the fuel return at the bottom of the tank. On my Volvo I had which was a 2013, the return was in the bottom of the driver side tank. The "shaking" you feel may actually be surging or jerking. If it happens more going up hill (any incline up hill, with or without load but worse with load) it is pretty likely you have bad cups and injectors. But if you recently did just put steer tires on and not balance them that could be the issue too. Checking your fuel return with your eye looking in the tank and the truck running costs you nothing though. So, I would start there.

I have been chasing a really bad shaking from the rear with my 2012 VNL ever since I got it. new virgin tires, centramatics on all 4 wheel ends, new shocks, new airbags, new leveling valve, new plastic wear blocks. I even tried the little plastic collers you put on the studs to help center the wheels on the hub. none of it has fixed it. Front end has been almost rebuilt as well. new king pins, ball joints, air bags, leveling valves, shocks, hanger bushings, centramatics, and it still wears the steer tires funny. I was happy when I found the Hecules H-309 steer tires, they are for high scrub environments and have deeper tread than regular steers.
